Marc Harkness, Member-at-Large |
| I started paddling in 1992, when I drew my first paycheck from my first job out of school and spent it all on a 16-foot Old
Town canoe and a copy of Benner's book on Eastern North Carolina paddling. After leading my friends on a disastrous "picnic"
on the upper Haw, (and they would no longer paddle with me) I learned about the Club, and my life was changed, through the
excellent clinics and instruction as well as what I learned from the fine people who mentored me through many trips. I made
the switch to kayak in 1998.
I'm a self-employed graphic designer, and in addition to paddling, I enjoy rock-climbing, running, and playing music. I currently live in Washington, DC but have strong North Carolina roots. I see Member-At-Large as a way to start giving back to a club that has given so much to the paddling community in our state, from instruction to conservation efforts. |
